Greetings Saturn Enthusiasts! Please enjoy the latest October SPS Updates… Parts are in Development for the new LS and LW Most everyone already knows – thanks to the Saturn commercials – that the new LS and LW midsize cars are based upon an athletic European platform. So they have the potential to be fun performers, despite their mass. And to help owners of the new models realize this potential, SPS has begun to develop a new line of parts just for the LS and LW models. Parts in the pipeline include springs, dampers, sway bars, intakes, and exhausts – with more parts likely to follow as time passes! If you happen to own one of the new LS or LW models now and desire a lighting upgrade, then you will be glad to know that bulb applications carry-over from the small car. So plan on using the 9005 high-beam, 9006 low-beam, and 880 foglamp bulb. Watch for news on new product availability at the SPS website and future newsletters! Product News Hella’s exceptional H4 headlamp conversion unit replaces sealed-beam headlights with a new lamp that uses a standard H4 bulb. This allows owners of all 91-96 SC and SC2 coupes with "pop-up" style headlights to use replaceable H4 bulbs with higher wattage and/or various color patterns. Each unit includes one bolt-in housing, wiring adapter, and rubber moisture seal. (Hint: combine the conversion with the HYPH4 metal-white bulb to create a high-powered headlight with a pure HID-like look.) For all 91-96 SC and SC2 coupes with pop-up lights. The HE4165H is available now for $69.00 each. Luks metal-white replacement bulbs produce a pure white light with none of the "dirty yellow" contamination that is common with conventional halogen bulbs. And with an 80watt low beam and 100 watt high beam, it makes nearly twice the power of the stock lamps. Use with the HE4165H Hella H4 conversion kit. The HYPH4 is available now for $19.95 each. Colored replacement bulbs are an easy way to add a modified look and increased performance to the stock Saturn foglamps. We offer a selection of bulbs to fit every stock Saturn lamp in various colors and power levels. Please check the exterior products section for the SPS website for a complete list of applications. Many more new products will be introduced very shortly. But although we are excited about the new items, we are trying very hard to use discretion about releasing new product information because sharing any information before solidifying all of the facts can inadvertently mislead customers, employees, and supporters. Please visit our web site often and watch for future updates. Many more exciting items are on the horizon! October Specials Kayne exhausts piping is on sale now at blowout prices while supplies last! SPS Racing This week brings the moment of truth for all SCCA National Club Racing competitors as they fight for the national championship at the Valvoline Runoffs at MidOhio. And Mike Kramer and his Thundersport Racing team will be there to carry the flag for Saturn and SPS. However, while Mike and his team are always optimistic about their chances, the competition will be steep. In fact, eight of the faster misclassed Civic Si’s will be on hand to wage their own battles for the SSC title. Said Mike in an interview last week, "They (the Si’s) are all fast. We could find ourselves racing for 9th place. But then again, this is the Runoffs – and ANYTHING can happen!" Practice and qualifying sessions will be held throughout the week, while the Showroom Stock C (SSC) championship race will take place on Friday 10-08-99 at 1:40 p.m. For more information about the Runoffs or the MidOhio Sports Car Course, call 1-800-MID-OHIO or visit their website at www.midohio.com. Meanwhile, regional superstar Mark Rushbrook has capped-off his exceptional season with a second place finish at the WOR Games held at MidOhio on September 25 and 26. After a challenging practice session (where another dead battery just before the start necessitated another last minute "loan" from Jen’s SC1,) Mark managed to qualify 3rd out of 8 behind a Civic Si and a Civic EX. Then during the race, Mark’s smart and consistent driving enabled him to take advantage of a blown motor in the EX to jump into 2nd place and hold his position for the duration of the race. Mark is considering building his own ITA Saturn for the 2000 season and racing beside James Walker on the scR motorsports team. For more information – or to encourage Mark to do it – visit the scR motorsports website at http://www.teamscr.com! Thanks for Your Help in the Fight Against Juvenile Diabetes Thanks to all who generously donated money and time to help with the walk to fight juvenile diabetes on September 26. Thanks to your help, the Dayton chapter was able to raise nearly $200,000.00 which will go toward funding research to find a cure for diabetes. We extend special thanks to the following friends, customers, and supporters for your generous donations: Chris Altenburg, Christena Snowden, Alan Paquette, Rick King, Jason Neely, Mike Goodrich, and Dan Gabriel.
