Greetings Saturn Enthusiasts! Please enjoy the latest December SPS Updates… Expedited Shipping Upgrades are Available Most Saturn enthusiasts know that SPS has a reputation for having items in stock – and for processing orders and shipments very quickly. Most orders ship out of the SPS warehouse within one business day of being placed! In order to keep the costs to our customers to a minimum, our standard shipping method is UPS ground. In most cases, this inexpensive service allows package delivery within five business days. But we understand that there are times in which you need an item right away. In these cases, we also offer expedited shipping services, including 3-Day Select, 2-Day Air, Next Day Air Saver, and Next Day Air. If you are in a hurry, ask us about one of these expedited services. It is easy for us to quote the extra cost so as to allow you to make an informed decision. And if you are willing to pay the premium, we can literally deliver most orders overnight! Product News Hawk's HPS ('high performance street’) brake pad compound is a Ferro-Carbon based material that combines the safety and quality of Aerospace design partnered with the braking technology of motorsports. HPS pads are designed for street-driven vehicles that will encounter high-speed driving and/or repetitive heavy braking. HPS pads will provide a higher coefficient of friction and a higher temperature threshold than stock. But they are also low dust, low noise, gentle on rotors, and have a relatively long lifespan (holding usage conditions constant.) Hawk HPS pads are now available for all Saturn S series. Choose part number HB507HPS for the front at $71.98 per axle set. Or choose part number HB508HPS for the rear at $50.98 per axle set. Pounding bass, roaring engines, cheering crowds, hot babes and sweet beats. That’s the gist of the new DVD from Nology entitled, 'Full Throttle.' Strap yourself in for a ride into the world of tricked-out cars, tuners, import models and more! Many more new products will be introduced very shortly. But although we are excited about the new items, we must use discretion about releasing new product information because sharing any information before solidifying all of the facts can inadvertently mislead customers, employees, and supporters. Please visit our web site often and watch for future updates. Many more exciting items are on the horizon! December Specials Aside from tire upgrades, stiffer stabilizer bars are the best way to improve handling on any car! A stabilizer bar acts as a torsion bar to tie both sides of the car together - which means that body roll cannot occur unless the bar twists. By installing larger bars in the rear - which are harder to twist - body roll is reduced and the handling balance is improved for less understeer. The SWAY2SPS replaces the stock DOHC S series 15.0mm factory unit with a 16.0mm diameter and an adjustable end-link design to increase rigidity, reduce body roll, and improve handling. The SPS 16.0mm Adjustable Rear Stabilizer bar, part number SWAY2SPS, is normally $119. But it is on sale now for only $99.00 each! Our gorgeous black emblem sets may be just what you need to give your modified Saturn a unique look. These are a very simple replacement of the stock red emblems for Saturn S and L series cars, but they look great! Choose between the EMB001BL (3-piece set for all 91-99 sedans, all 91-96 coupes, and 2000 SL w/o painted fascia,) the EMB002BL (4-Piece Set for all 97-02 Coupes,) the EMB003BL (3-Piece Set for 2000-02 Sedans/Wagons {not 2000 SL}) and the EMB004BL (4-piece set for all 00-02 L series.) Three piece sets, part numbers EMB001BL and EMB003BL, are normally $29 each. But they are on sale now for only $26.10 each! And four piece sets, part numbers EMB002BL and EMB004BL, are normally $39 each, but are on sale now for only $35.10 each! Please visit the SPS web site (http://www.spswebpage.com) for more details! SPS Racing There is some very happy news and some very sad news to report from the scR camp this month. First, the good news: Team founder and leader, James Walker and his wife Dana are expecting their second child in April. Their first child, Zack, has brought great joy into their lives. And we certainly expect more of the same with blessing number two. We all wish the best for the Walker family as the number of seats at their dining room table expands. Now for the sad news: Running a race team is an extremely time and resource intensive effort. Raising a family is also a very time and resource intensive effort. When race team requirements are added to family requirements, the Walker family is left with a deficit. Thus the decision has been made by James to sell his race-winning #34 1992 SC ITA racecar effective immediately. James plans to continue racing with karts – particularly with an eye toward getting Zack started in the sport as soon as he is old enough. But for now, his SCCA days will probably be limited to a few rental weekends just to keep his license current. With certainty, James will be sincerely missed. However, that being said, his absence also opens the door of opportunity for the rest of us. For starters, since James always runs near the front at every race, the rest of us are more likely to inherit his position. Secondly, the sale and liquidation of James’ car and spare parts will be a turn-key race-winning operation for the lucky buyer who ends up with it. James’ red #34 racecar is one of the best-built ITA cars in the entire country – and is probably the best example of racecar building and preparation in the entire Saturn motorsport community. It features only the best top-quality components including many custom designed and fabricated solutions. James estimates that the cost to duplicate the #34 car would exceed $35,000.00. Fortunately, he is asking considerably less. For more details about the #34 car (including about 35 color photos,) please visit http://www.teamscr.com/forsale.htm or email James at teamscr at flash dot net. For now, Mark Rushbrook and John Comeskey plan to continue to race under the scR banner in 2004. So be sure to catch the latest news, schedule changes, race recaps, and photo and video galleries at the new scR website located at http://www.teamscr.com. SPS Credit Card Policies Virtually everyone agrees that credit cards make buying stuff easy and convenient – and most of the time, this is a good thing. That’s why SPS accepts Visa, Mastercard, and Discover. Unfortunately, however, credit card fraud has become common in the modern world - and the mail order parts industry is one of the most heavily affected. So in order to protect our customers and our business, SPS takes extra precaution when processing orders that are paid via credit card. One of the most important of these extra precautions is the verification of shipping addresses. What this means is that prior to shipping every order that has been paid with a credit card, we first contact the bank or financial institution that issued the card to confirm that they recognize the address to which we are asked to ship the order. If they confirm that the address is legitimate, then the order is released for shipment. If not, we must hold the shipment until we are able to get the card issuer’s approval. Often, we find that we end up shipping to the billing address of the credit card. But this is not always the case, as most card issuers will allow their card holders to add alternate addresses to their account. These alternate addresses are often entered as ‘alternate shipping addresses’ or as ‘memo notes’ within the card issuer’s records. This option makes it safe and convenient for our customers to ship orders to work, school, or the homes of relatives. So to avoid delays or complications with your orders, we suggest that you first take the time to contact your card-issuing bank or financial institution and confirm that your preferred shipping address is listed within your account records.
