Page 1 of 5 On July 15-19, 1998, SPS co-hosted the world’s first-ever Saturn Performance Pilgrimage in which nearly 45 Saturn performance enthusiasts converged upon Spring Hill, Tennessee for a weekend of racing, socializing, and general Saturnizing. Despite being our first attempt at organizing such an event, everything went very smoothly and everyone had a great time. Thanks to all who joined us! And if you didn’t make it this year, check out this scrapbook and start making plans for next year!
Day 1 – Wednesday, July 15 Several groups arrived in Dayton on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. Mike Morten and Nick Willardson from Colorado and Lane Stroik from Wisconsin joined up with Bill Deebs and Jon Tapp in Chicago. Their group eventually picked up "Indiana Dave" Plantenga and spent Tuesday night in Dayton. Eric Penn and Noah "West Side" Boehm from Detroit, Jason Mauser and Andrea Martin from Pensylvania, and Jamin Cummings from New York all arrived on Wednesday morning. Finally, at noon on Wednesday, the Dayton group which included Jason and Christena Snowden and Jen, John, and Kevin from SPS met the rest of the group in the Saturn of Dayton South parking lot. We spent an hour here gawking at cars, taking photos, and talking to enthusiastic Saturn of Dayton employees before hitting the road at 1:00 to begin the journey to Spring Hill. | | The entire Dayton group in the Saturn of Dayton parking lot just prior to departure. Once the trip began, Bill Deebs led part of the group on what they called "the scenic route." The rest of us went straight down the freeway. Our group made one stop for food at McDonalds and one stop for gas. We arrived in Spring Hill at 6:00 p.m. They pulled in around 10 p.m.
