1. Assemble the bar so that both end brackets are threaded into the center of the crossbar. 2. Make an educated guess as to the overall length required of the bar in order to span the distance between the strut towers. Adjust the bar length accordingly by turning the end brackets inward or outward. Try to keep the exposed stud length even on each side. 3. Remove 13mm strut upper mounting bolts from both sides of the engine compartment at the strut towers. 4. Install one bracket with mounting tab toward the front of the car. 5. Reinstall nuts and torque to 21 ft-lbs. 6. Before installing the second bracket, fine-tune the sizing requirements by turning the unattached bracket inward or outward. 7. Install remaining bracket with mounting tab toward the front of the car. 8. Reinstall nuts and torque to 21 ft-lbs. Be careful when tightening these nuts not to overtighten or to apply uneven force that would ‘bend’ the stud. This can break the stud which will require new upper strut mount assemblies! 9. Tighten the weld-nuts on the ends of the cross-bar studs to approx. 25 ft-lbs. in order to lock the bar position relative to the studs. |
