The PIAA “Super Silicone” wipers employ silicone-impregnated blades that dramatically improve visibility by continually reapplying a rain-repelling chemical to the windshield surface every time you run your wipers. Proper installation and break-in is necessary for proper wiper operation.
1. Remove old wiper blades by first lifting the wiper arms into the vertical service position (with arms standing upward from the wiper pivot and away from the windshield). Rotate the wiper blade assembly until it forms a “T” shape with the wiper arm. Depress the small tab located on the bottom of the OEM adapter to release the retainer while simultaneously pulling downward on the wiper blade assembly. The assembly should release itself out of the “J”-shaped hook at the end of the wiper arm. 2. Locate the small bag of adapter clips included in the package. Select the “C1” adapters for the Saturn application. 3. Press the C1 adapter’s C-notch onto the cross pin on the PIAA wiper blade until it snaps into place. It may be a bit difficult to get the clip to seat properly, but it will eventually click into place. (See illustration.) For cosmetic’s sake, make sure you have the PIAA logos right side up and not inverted when you attach the clips. 4. After the clip has been attached to the cross pin, lift the clip so it stands vertical from the wiper assembly (with the release tab pointing upward). 5. Gently slide the j-shaped end of the wiper arm between the rails of the wiper assembly and hook the arm end around the adapter and slide them together until they click into place. Make sure that the adapter’s release tab is on the opposite side of the wiper arm and NOT against the arm itself. 6. After installing both wipers, use a quality glass cleaner (like 409) to clear the windshield of all dirt and road scum. 7. Locate and open the small package of window treatment in the product packaging. Using the enclosed applicator cloth, coat your windshield with a layer of treatment fluid using a tight, circular motion (like you would when waxing your car). Repeat until you are satisfied that the window is sufficiently coated. Allow fluid several minutes to dry and become slightly hazy. Then polish the haze off with a soft cloth. 8. Lower the wiper blades back down to the windshield and dry-run the wipers for a minimum of 5 minutes. This allows the wiper blades to thoroughly apply their silicone coating to the windshield surface. 9. Finished! Now, go look for some rainy skies to test your new PIAA windshield wipers. Enjoy! PIAA recommends replacing their “Super Silicone” wiper blades every 12 months. Contact SPS for a complete selection of replacement PIAA wiper blade inserts. |
